What is the difference between Life Coaching and Counseling?
Disclaimer: Coach Gomaa is a life coach not a counselor.
Life coaching and counseling are two different approaches to helping people make positive changes in their lives. While they have some similarities, there are also some significant differences between the two.
Counseling is often done by licensed professionals, such as clinical psychologists, licensed therapists, or social workers. Counseling typically focuses on helping people deal with specific emotional or psychological issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or addiction. Counselors use various therapeutic techniques to help their clients explore and process their emotions and thoughts, develop coping skills, and make positive changes in their lives.
On the other hand, life coaching generally focuses on helping people achieve their personal or professional goals. Life coaches use various techniques and strategies to help their clients clarify their values and vision, set goals, create action plans, and stay motivated and accountable. Life coaching is not a licensed profession, and anyone can call themselves a life coach, regardless of their training or experience.
In summary, counseling is typically focused on helping people deal with emotional or psychological issues, while life coaching is focused on helping people achieve personal or professional goals. Both can be helpful in different situations, and it’s important to choose the right approach based on your needs and goals.
Who would benefit from a life coach?
If you are experiencing feelings of dissatisfaction or unhappiness but are unable to identify their root causes, if you have problems, difficulties and are unable to achieve your goals, set your priorities or plan your future a life coach may provide assistance. Achieving clarity entails having a clear understanding of one’s identity and living a life that is significant and fulfilling. This entails recognizing one’s desires, underlying motivations, and the strategies required to pursue them.

Do you accept insurance?
Unfortunately, I do not accept insurance, but you may be able to pay for my services via cash, check, Zelle, or PayPal.
How do you maintain confidentiality?
A. Confidentiality involves protecting your personal information from being shared with others without your written consent. In coaching, all conversations and details are kept confidential, unless required or permitted by Florida laws.
B. The Coach-Client relationship is bound by confidentiality principles.
However, it’s important to note that this relationship is not considered a legally confidential relationship, like those in the medical and legal professions. The Coach agrees not to disclose any information about the Client without written consent, including the Client’s name as a reference.
C. There are certain circumstances where confidentiality may not apply, including suspected abuse of a child or dependent adult, potential suicidal behavior, threats to harm oneself or others, individuals holding your power of attorney, or court-ordered mandates.
D. Client notes will only contain necessary information and not sensitive details, and any disclosure of information will require written consent, or a complaint filed against the coach.
E. When paying via check, Zelle, PayPal, or credit card, bank employees may view the names of Gomaa Life Coaching & Consulting LLC clients, and caller identification may show Gomaa Life Coaching & Consulting, LLC, or Mahmoud Gomaa.
F. Information that is not considered confidential includes information that was already known by the Coach, is publicly known, is obtained from a third party without any breach of an obligation to the Client, is independently developed by the Coach, is required to be disclosed by law or court order, involves illegal activity, or poses an imminent or likely risk of danger or harm to the Client or others. Clients are encouraged to raise any confidentiality questions or concerns with the Coach in a timely manner.
Can I cancel my appointment?
Cancellations for appointments are not accepted if less than 48-hours from the time the appointment is booked during our business hours not due to emergencies. Failure to do so will result in the session fee being non-refundable, and a new appointment will need to be scheduled.
What about your No Show policy?
If you miss your appointment without notifying the office, the regular scheduled appointments will be given to someone else and any remaining appointments will be cancelled. You will need to schedule and pay for a new appointment. Please
call if an illness or emergency prevents you from making your appointment. This is an exception to the 24-hour notice.
Can I reschedule my appointment?
In order to effectively manage appointments and ensure that all clients receive the care they require, we have certain policies in place. If you need to reschedule your appointment, we kindly ask that you provide us with a 24-hour notice from the time the appointment is booked during our business hours. Failure to do so will result in the session fee being non-refundable, and a new appointment will need to be scheduled.
If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your scheduled appointment, it will be considered a no-show and you will need to schedule and pay for a new appointment. I implement these policies in order to ensure that all of our clients have access to the care they need, as reserving a session time means that it cannot be utilized by someone else who may be on a waiting list.
What about court appearances & letters?
Please note that the Coach does not provide court appearances or letters for legal cases, disability, companion pets, or work-related issues.
